2016 Wrigley Field World Series Championship Moment

It’s exactly 11:47 pm on November 2, 2016. I am inside Merkle’s Bar & Grill on Clark Street. The North Siders defeat the Cleveland Indians in Game 7 of the 2016 World Series, 8-7 in 10 innings. Pandemonium erupts! Everyone in every bar and restaurant in Lakeview heads to the intersection of Clark and Addison streets. This is the address of Wrigley Field. And this is where fans of all ages gather to celebrate the World Series championship moment.

I take as many images of this World Series championship moment as I can. This shot is a little blurry, but so am I. That kinda says it all. Fans wait 108 years to celebrate a World Series victory outside Wrigley Field. This is the club’s third title in 11 World Series tries. But, technically, it’s the first at Wrigley Field. The ballpark for the first two titles in 1907 and 1908 is West Side Park. All the more reason to celebrate!
