A Wrigley Field aerial view shows a huge crowd of nearly 50,000 in the temporary outfield stands. The North Sider are in the 1935 World Series against the Detroit Tigers. A little more than two years later a permanent concrete structure replaces these temporary stands. In 1937, there is a new scoreboard too.
The year 1935 is a great one for the North Siders, who remember it for the 100 wins (which they did not do again until 2016), the 21-game-winning streak (not including ties, still a major league record), the club’s 14th National League pennant — and, unfortunately, a World Series loss to the Detroit Tigers four games to two. This Wrigley Field aerial view includes a look at the Lakeview neighborhood.
